Degrees

Dual Degrees

Vermont Law School’s partnerships with other like-minded institutions make it possible for our JD and master’s degree students to also pursue a master’s or advanced degree, such as a master of environmental management from Yale, an MBA from Dartmouth, or an LLM in business organization law from the University of Cergy-Pontoise.

Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies

The JD/MEM degree with the Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies enables students to earn both degrees in four years. JD/MEM degree candidates may "share" the equivalent of twelve credits between the two programs. Applicants to this program must apply separately to, and be accepted by, both Vermont Law School and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

The Cambridge campus

University of Cambridge, England

Selected students can complete a JD at VLS and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree from Cambridge in the Department of Land Economy, with a concentration in Real Estate Finance; Environmental Policy; or Planning, Growth and Regeneration.

University of Cergy-Pontoise, France

This program blends two years of study at VLS with two years as a degree student at the University of Cergy-Pontoise just outside of Paris. Graduates earn a JD from VLS and an advanced-level master’s degree in business organization law from Cergy-Pontoise.

Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth

If you are interested in pursuing a career in business with a particular emphasis on environmental concerns, you can earn the MELP at VLS and a concurrent MBA at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. MELP/MBA degree candidates can share the equivalent of nine credits between the two programs.

The UVM campus.

University of Vermont Rubenstein School of Natural Resources

The University of Vermont is considered to have one of the top environmental and natural resource programs in the country, making it an ideal partner for VLS. You can pair your interests in environmental science and environmental law and policy, earning MELP and Master of Science in Natural Resources (MSNR) degrees in two years.

The Thunderbird Campus.

Thunderbird School of Global Management

Vermont Law School has joined with Thunderbird School of Global Management to offer dual degrees in law and global management—a partnership that grew out of both schools' commitment to educating for a better world. Students can now choose among several degree options that will earn them a JD or MELP from Vermont Law School and a master's degree from Thunderbird.

University of South Carolina School of Law

University of South Carolina JD students can enroll at VLS to complete the MELP degree program. They can earn both degrees in three years or pursue them consecutively over four years.

The University of South Dakota campus.
